"In the style of Abruzzo", with lots of red or green peppers, local chillis known as diavolicchio, and tomatoes and sometimes ham.
"In the style of the buccaneer." A dish served with seafood and tomato sauce flavoured with garlic and onions.
"In the style of the hunter." Meat or game served with tomatoes stewed with mushrooms, onions and herbs such as rosemary, garlic and wine. A similar sauce may be served with pasta.
"In the style of Calabria." I have been able to detect no particular theme to dishes "a la calabrese" other than that something will be cooked with or served with fresh local produce.
"Country style", rustic. This refers to simple, unsophisticated dishes usually made with tomatoes, mushrooms and onions.
