A salad of celery heart cut into thin strips, diced artichoke heart and tomato served with halved, skinned avocados and vinaigrette.
"Scandinavian beetroot salad." A salad of cooked, diced beetroot, onion rings, hard boiled eggs, parsley and chopped herrings are sprinkled with a highly seasoned vinaigrette.
"Beef salad" usually consisiting of a salad of slices of cold boiled beef with sliced potatoes, gherkins (US: dill pickles) and onions and with tomatoes and hard boiled eggs mixed with a mustard dressing.
"White cabbage salad." Coleslaw. A salad of thinly sliced white hearts of cabbage, sometimes with a little added carrot and onion, mixed with mayonnaise or similar binding sauce.
"Cauliflower salad." A salad of parboiled cauliflower is cooled and marinated with oil, vinegar, mustard powder and seasoning. It is served very cold with chopped herbs.
"Cucumber salad." A salad of cucumbers sliced and sprinkled with salt, pepper and vinegar or French dressing.
