A southern French name for type of weever; a marine fish with poisonous spines. Alec, of Padstow Angling Centre tells me that the greater weever is one of the finest fishes to eat. This is a place that knows its fish, so I look forward to trying it as soon as I can.

A variety of eating apple which was introduced commercially from Nantais in France in 1947. This late-season variety is harvested from mid-October in South-East England and is at its best from November to January. It is thought that an earlier Drap d'Or, recorded in 1628, was a different apple and may be the same thing as Golden Noble.

Dreux à la Feuille is a soft, pale cow’s milk cheese from Eure-et-Loir, with white rind decorated with a chestnut leaf. It is available all year. It contains about 40% fat.
