A feast served in the early afternoon of Christmas Eve, usually centred around a large ham and traditionally including dopp i grytan.
"Coffee bread." Sweet yeast pastries usually eaten with coffee. May be danish pastries but are often a more homely cinnamon bun made in a long oval and cut into slices.
"Coffee cheese." A disc of cheese from northern Sweden, about 20 cm (8") in diameter, originally made with reindeer milk but now more usually made with cow's milk. Small pieces of this are put into coffee instead of milk. It does not melt, but the pieces are eaten after the coffee has been drunk, and have a squeaky texture. Cheeses are also wrapped in foil, heted over embers and served as a dessert with blueberries.
