A sweet, red wine grape used in making Chianti wines in Tuscany. In central Italy it is more often used to make white wines.
"Little canaries." These pale, golden-green artichokes, are grown on plants which are deprived of much light, They are harvested very young and are small, tender and mild. Like castraure, they are expensive.
"Little flat ones." Pastries from Sicily made at Easter, shaped like a lyre and containing a whole, often coloured, egg.
"Candle holder." An orange and almond flavoured pastry from Sardinia made with cup shaped pastry filled with almond paste.
The Candia dei Colli Apuani DOC production zone extends over the slopes of the hills of the territory of Massa and Carrara in Tuscany and produces white wines made from Vermentino grapes. Viticultural has been practiced in the district since the earliest times and agriculture in general has always represented an impotant economic resource for the community.
