A wine classification indicating that the wine is made from over-ripe fruit individually picked from selected bushes of grapes. The resulting wine is sweet, fruity, intense and very expensive. Some are made from grapes infected with noble rot.
To baste. To sprinkle. To lightly moisten a dish by spooning the melted fat or juices over it periodically during cooking.
Snipe. The finest part of the bird is reputed to be the brain. Best in fall, they are usually roasted.
