Large prawns, usually served with lemon and salt.
"Grey prawn." Brown shrimp. A small, common shrimp which grows up to 6 cm (2½ inches) long, has a soft shell and turns greyish-brown when cooked. It is found on sandy shores. It has excellent flavour.
"Nordic prawn." A type or prawn found in deep cold waters, in particularly around Norway.
"Pink prawn." Common prawn (US: shrimp). A large reddish prawn. These are translucent when raw but become pink on cooking.
A pale pink prawn (US: shrimp) with a pronounced red beak found in the deep waters of the Mediterranean.
"Red prawn." A large reddish Mediterranean prawn with good flavour.
"Royal prawn." A large prawn. King prawn. A brownish prawn which goes pink when cooked. Can grow to more than 20 cm (8 inches) in length. Very fine eating.
"Prawns in Créole style." Prawns tossed in butter and sautéed, served on a bed of rice and coated with sauce créole.
