A Karelian stew made with beef and pork, sometimes mutton, all mixed together, and flavoured with allspice. A classic Finnish winter warmer.
Oval pasty from Karelia made with rye dough and filled with rice or potatoes, sometimes served with chopped egg and a knob of butter. They are often eaten with coffee or tea.
"Cranberry pudding". Cranberry juice is simmered and thickened with cornflour (US: corn starch). The mixture is then sweetened with sugar and usually served with cream. More often made with lingonberries in Finland. You may see the singular partitive form "karpalokiisseliä" on menus.
Fly agaric. A type of mushroom, the classic red with white spots. Famous for its psychoactive hallucinogenic properties this is the magic mushroom and is actually poisonous to eat.
