Aylesbury ducks are descended from the common duck. They are predominantly Buckinghamshire, Lincolnshire or Norfolk ducklings but are a distinct breed with lots of fat. They are aged by seven weeks. According to the BBC Food Newsletter of 31/01/2009, "Aylesbury ducks traditionally lived inside the houses of the rearers. In some parts of Buckinghamshire, the ducks' boxes were lined with hay and nailed to the living room walls. Some rearers even kept their charges in their bedroom. The rearer's wife and children were responsible for looking after the ducks." Not today I suspect.
