An old variety of russet eating apple with red flushing which may have been around since the late 1500s. It is a mid-season apple, harvested from late September in South-East England, and does not have great keeping properties but is mainly eaten in October.
A pudding bowl lined with white bread and filled with stewed autumn (US: fall) fruits such as apples, plums, blackberries and so on and chilled. It is similar to summer pudding.
A drum of semihard cheese made with cow's milk and flavoured with caraway seeds. It is made at Walnut Tree Farm in Somerset. This cheese is made with raw, whole milk and contains 48% fat. It may be found weighing 1.8-2.5 kg (4 lb - 5½ lb). Affinage is from 7 days to 3 months.
A large, cylindrical winter squash which resembles a smooth large peanut with a bulbous base and which has a buttery flavour and yellowish-orange flesh. The skin of this variety is marbled pale green.
