Five Boys Chocolate ®

When Fry's milk chocolate was launched in 1902, the Five Boys picture was featured on the label and the chocolate became known as 'Five Boys Chocolate'. It retained its popularity until it was withdrawn in 1976. The 'Fry's 5 Boys' advertisement was first used in 1885. The photographs were taken by Messrs Poulton & Son. The model was the photographer's son Lindsay and a rag soaked in ammonia was used to achieve the 'desperation face'.

This chocolate bar, by Cadbury's, was invented in 1920, and represented the start of a revolution in the creation of bars of chocolate. It is a small, long bar of stalactites of milk chocolate, impossible to eat neatly as the stalactites cascade into your lap as you eat. It has been accompanied by a long series of advertisements of a suggestive nature in which young women feel the bar with their tongues, sweeping off the hanging bits before they disappear down their plunging necklines.

Flaked, pressed or beaten rice consists of rice grains steamed or softened by parboiling and then flattened through rollers. The result may be cooked or eaten uncooked as in muesli. It is used in milk puddings and by breakfast cereal manufacturers.

Flaky or puff pastry consisting of multiple layers of pastry dough and butter or fat. When cooked it rises enormously and becomes flaky and puffy. Not surprisingly. This is what the French call mille-feuille.

Flame tomato

A huge, yellowish, indeterminate beefsteak tomato variety with flesh streaked with red. Fruits weigh around 390 g (14 oz) on average and have a strong flavour. It received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in 2003.

Flaming Lamborghini

A cocktail, reputedly favoured by Gazza (Paul Gascoigne) and consisting of Kahlua, Curaçao, Baileys, Tequila, Premium Lead Free and Vimto. Not for me, thanks.
