Fan mussel. A shellfish which grows up to 40 cm (16") long but which otherwise has the appearance of a large, slightly elongated mussel. The adductor muscle is edible.
Bilberry, whortleberry, blaeberry, or whinberry. A name for different berries, including wild cranberry (Airelle rouge). Airelle is also the name for a spirit made from these berries.
Velvet swimming crab. One of the largest of the swimming crabs. A small spider crab with sweet, flaky white flesh. It has good flavour but is too small to pick, so is used in soups.
Grouper. The most common species, this is reddish or yellowish brown particularly popular in North Africa. Being firm and dense, and relatively bone-free, makes it good for poaching or grilling. Good cold.
