A rounded, bright yellow fruit with sweet, white, caramel-flavoured flesh only edible when fully ripe. It is less pointed than the sapote which it otherwise resembles. The skin contains latex, so we were very careful to just scoop the fruit out with a spoon. The tree originated in South America, and the fruit looks like a thin-skinned lemon. The fruit grows along the branches and the trunk.
