Naan bread. A leavened flatbread cooked in a tandoor and made from white wheat flour, yoghurt, egg and butter and baked in a tandoor. The baker is called the naanbai.
Finger millet. After rice and wheat, finger millet, with pearl millet, is the most important grain crop of India. It is used to make flour. Finger millet is often intercropped with legumes such as peanuts (Arachis hypogea), cowpeas (Vigna sinensis), and pigeon peas (Cajanus cajan), or other plants such as Niger seeds (Guizotia abyssinica).

Lotus root. The long fleshy root of the lotus. It has a reddish-brown skin around crisp white flesh, and should be peeled before use. It tastes a little like coconut.
A fiery chilli which is a rare Bangladeshi version of the Habanero chilli. The fruit are roughly cone shaped, and about 1.75 cm (¾") wide at the shoulders and 4 cm (1¾") long, although they may be smaller. Naga may be found either green or having ripened to red. It is an extremely hot chilli, especially when red, and should be treated with caution.
A fiery variety of chilli which is said to be an ingredient in tear gas.
