"Lost bread" Eggy bread. That is, French bread dipped in milk, eggs and sugar and then fried. The first written record of this was at the court of Henry V when it was so called because the bread would otherwise have been thrown away. I would have thought it should have been called "found bread"

A rather crude, crusty, salty, sourdough loaf of bread named after its creator, Lionel Poilâne. It is described by Terry Durack as "a work of art; a global celebrity; a Gallic icon; a symbol of artisanal purity; a natural medicine." He died tragically in a helicopter crash in November 2002.
