Milfoil or goosetongue. Yarrow. It is used in liqueurs and to make bitters and in the manufacturer of some cosmetics. It has some quality which makes it inadvisable for women during pregnancy.
Garfish. A striking, beaked, marine fish up to 60 cm (2 ft) long, with a backbone which turns bright green on cooking and a delicious flavour, found on most European coasts.
Monosodium glutamate. This is used as a flavour enhancer in Chinese and Japanese cookery but should be used sparingly. In Chinese markets it may be called mei jiung.
Ramonitchi. A plum-sized fruit with red skin, juicy ivory flesh. It has a tart flavour and is generally used for making preserves.
