zavarka(заварка)

is a strong concentrate of tea used in Russian tea culture.  It is brewed for a relatively long time, about 15 minutes and a pot of zavarka or заварка may be kept warm for as long as 3 hours. Often possessing a deep smokey quality,  Zavarka is blended of Chinese and Indian black tea to be brewed for intensity without becoming bitter.  The concentrate is kept warm in a small teapot on top of the Russian tea kettle, the samovár , and is diluted with hot water, kipyatok or кипяток, boiled inside the samovár.  As the tea is very strong, water is added at a 10 to 1 ratio as per individual taste.  Long an important part of Russian culture, zavarka is now considered a national beverage in Russia, once demarcating evening from day, zavarka was had at afternoon tea, it is now had throughout the day.
