[Finnish]

Sandwich cake. A sandwich cake in Finland is not the sweet sponge found in the United Kingdom. It is a loaf of white bread from which the crusts are removed and cut into four horizontal slices. Each slice is then spread thickly with a different type of savoury filling, perhaps egg salad or chicken, liver paste, or a ham mixture. The loaf is then reconstituted and pressed and the decorated with a savoury "icing" of, say cream cheese or soured cream (US: cultured sour cream) and decorated with sliced vegetables such as cucumbers or tomatoes.
