Tower of Glamis apple

/towr ov GLAHMZ/
[English]

An old variety of large, greenish-yellow English cooking apple, not readily available. It cooks to a pale purée. It was received from J Scott Nursery in Somerset but may be an apple which had arrived from Scotland in the 19th Century. This late-season variety is harvested from early October in South-East England and is at is best from October to December.
