Similar to Cox’s Orange Pippin, this is a medium-large apple slightly acid eating apple with yellowish-green skin widely flushed and striped with red and russeted. It was raised by HM Tydeman at East Malling Research Station in Kent in 1956 as a cross between Cox's Orange Pippin and Court Pendu Plat and received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Merit in 1980 and the Award of Garden Merit in 1993. This late-season variety is harvested from early October in South-East England and is at is best in November.
