Sunset apple

An attractive, golden-skinned eating apple with an orange red flush and crisp, firm, yellow flesh with a mild, aromatic, Cox-like flavour and is itself a Cox's Orange Pippin seedling. It keeps well and is disease resistant. It was raised by Mr GC Addy of Ightham in Kent. Although it was raised in 1918 it wasn't named until 1933. It received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Merit in 1960 and the Award of Garden Merit in 1993. This mid-season variety is harvested from late September in South-East England and is at its best from October to December.
