Pink Fir Apple potato(es)

[English] plural Pink Fir Apple potatoes

Pink Fir Apple is one of the best flavoured main crop potatoes with many characteristics of new potatoes. It has slightly knobbly, elongated tubers with one blunt and one pointed end which sometimes grow in peculiar clumps. The potatoes have pinkish-yellow flesh with a nutty, earthy taste and firm, waxy texture. The flesh remains translucent when cooked, making them excellent for salads. It is actually an old English variety with good keeping properties which is also boiled and used in stews.
