"Pine cone". A traditional Christmas dessert from Messina in Sicily and also found in Naples, this dish is made with fried, pea-sized pastry balls, pignoccata, flavoured with lemon and orange peel, dipped in honey and built up into a cone. The cone may then be decorated with chocolate and vanilla icing (US: frosting).
