"Haman's ears." A deep-fried biscuit shaped like an ear and flavored with lemon peel, vanilla, and sometimes rum and dipped in icing sugar (US: confectioner's sugar). Haman was a Persian who decreed death to all Jews, and these biscuits are made by Italian Jews during the Feast of Purim.
