[French] plural mignardises

A dainty. A petit four. A small biscuit (US: cookie) or sponge cake, often flavoured with almonds. This is a general term referring to the many types of miniature cake, sweet and candied fruit served at the end of the meal. In fact it may be either sweet or savoury. Some people give this name to an amuse bouche.
