"Wood." An island producing renowned dessert wines, of which Sercial is the driest. This, like Verdelho, may be drunk as an apéritif. Malmsey is a rich, dark amber Madeira wine, served at room temperature as a dessert wine. Boal is drier and smokier than Malmsey.
