July Red apple

A very large, soft, juicy variety of eating apple raised by GW Schneider of New Jersey Agricultural Experimental Station in New Brunswick in New York State in 1949, from Petrel, Early McIntosh, Williams and Starr in 1949. It was introduced commercially in 1962. This early-season apple is harvested from mid-July in New Jersey and has poor storage properties.
