Similar to Golden Delicious, this is a crisp, medium-sized eating apple with pale green skin turning to yellow and slightly pink flesh. It was raised by Dr F Alston at East Malling Research Station in Kent in 1966 as a cross between James Grieve and Golden Delicious. It was introduced commercially in 1977 and received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Merit in 1981. This is a prolific and disease-resistant variety which is self-fertile. This mid-season variety is harvested from mid-September in South-East England but does not store well.
