Golden Pippin apple

A variety of eating apple of uncertain origin but which may have arisen near Arundel in Sussex, at Parham Park and was first recorded in 1629. This apple apparently does well in northern Portugal but an attempt was made by George Washington to introduce it to the United States, where it did not flourish. It is late-season apple which is harvested from South-East England in early-October is stored and is at its best from October to November.
