A large seabird with pointed wings and tails and a handsome smooth yellow head with fierce markings around the eyes. These birds dive from a great height to fish, plummeting towards the sea as they draw their wings in against their bodies. The young of the gannet are treated as a Christmas delicacy in the some parts of the Outer Hebrides in Scotland, where they are called guga.
