Excelsior apple

A variety of red-flushed blushed cooking apple which was raised by WP Seabrook & Sons in Chelmsford in Essex and introduced commercially in 1921. It cooks down to a purée. This mid-season variety is harvested from late-August in South-East England and is at its best from September to October.
