A white wine (DOC) fro Lazio made from Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes. The story goes that, in 1111, a German Bishop called Johann Fugger made the journey to Rome and was very concerned that he would not find good quality wines on his journey. He sent ahead a servant, Martin, to scout for him. He was instructed to write the latin word "Est" (It is) on the door of an inn where he found good quality wine. As the Bishop arrived in Montefiascone he came upon an inn where, on the door, appeared the words "Est! Est!! Est!!! ", at which point he dismounted. It is not recorded whether he ever made it to to the coronation of Emperor Henry V, which was the object of his journey.
