The Cévennes is a mountainous area on the south eastern edge of the Massif Central in Lozère and Gard in the north of Languedoc-Roussillon, with a watershed to the west between the Loire and the Garonne rivers and, to the east, the Rhône and Saône rivers. It includes the sources of many rivers, including the Allier, the Loire, the Tarn and the Lot. Sheep are reared in the region, and olives, mulberries and vines are grown on the southern slopes.
