Melinjo nut. Small red fruits, the kernels of which are flattened and dried for eating as a snack called emping melinjo. The flowers and leaves are used as vegetables, either raw or cooked. The ripe peel is fried in oil and eaten with rice as a side dish and, finally, the young nuts are added to soups.
