In describing a flavour, bland means insipid, flavourless, uninspiring. We have a Pakistani friend who came for Christmas lunch and found roast turkey and bread sauce the ultimate in 'bland'. She is not a rude woman - just accustomed to highly flavoured, well-spiced dishes!
