Black Prince tomato

[English] plural Black Prince tomatoes

A small, indeterminate variety of heirloom tomato from Irkutsk in Siberia which fruits in mid season. The fruits are slightly pear-shaped, around 5 cm (2") round, with a deep reddish-brown colour grading to dark brown or "black" on the shoulders. They are good for slicing. The colour of the flesh varies from dark red to translucent brown and has an appealing, fruity flavour.
