biset

[French]

Rock pigeon. Rock pigeons breed in caves on steep cliffs, mainly on the coast but sometimes in the mountains. The city pigeons which are so ubiquitous are escapees which were originally kept in pigeon houses for meat, but then bred so successfully that they are now a pest.
