biltong

/bill-tong/

Meat jerky consisting of narrow strips of meat cut from game, beef or ostrich, pounded vigorously to release the juices and then air or sun dried, salted and spiced, or smoked. It resembles an aged leather belt - some say tastes like it as well. However, good biltong far surpasses meat jerky.
