In the United Kingdom and in Europe a banquet is a formal meal with many guests served in grand surroundings, where possible, at large tables laid with the best glass, porcelain and cutlery. In our experience, in the United States it is a more humble affair altogether, consisting of a few people sitting around some round tables in a conference room somewhere with some very ordinary food.
