Appetisers are generally small savoury snacks, hot or cold, served before going to the table or at the table, or with drinks, as blotting paper, and sometimes free of charge. They are bite-size snacks intended to stimulate the appetite. Depending on where you are, these might include olives, meat balls in sauce, anchovies, cheeses, squid, chorizo, cured ham, mussels, canapés with pâté. There is an endless array of delicious things which may be served as appetisers.
