alla napoletana

/ahl-lah nah-poh-leh-TAH-nah/
[Italian]

"In the style of Naples." A sauce of fresh tomatoes, herbs including garlic, onion and olive oil. It may also included minced (US: ground) meat or salami. It is commonly served with pasta and grated cheese. I have also seen descriptions of dishes alla napoletana containing anchovies and prosciutto.
