A popular, red-skinned, well-flavoured tomato of Scottish origin, developed in 1925 by Mr A Balch. It is a reliable indeterminate variety giving good yields of firm, medium-sized fruits which weigh up to 225 g (8 oz) early in the season. It grows well outdoors or in a cold greenhouse.
