An area situated north-west of Lisbon, close to Sintra, and well known for both its high tannin red and aromatic white wines. These are not exported and are of very high quality. The vines are grown in sand and are said to be the oldest in Europe, having not succumbed to Phylloxera disease.

Vintage. May appear on a wine bottle.
