The swede (US: rutabaga) is similar to and sometimes mistaken for the turnip, to which it is related, and sometimes called yellow turnip. Swedes are larger, rounder, denser and sweeter than turnips.
Brisling. Sprats, young herring, large quantities of which are tinned in oil and exported. Sometimes they are lightly smoked before they are tinned. They are used in the same way as sardines.
