Abraham Lincoln is an indeterminate variety of heirloom beefsteak tomato with potato-leafed foliage and a slightly acidic flavour. It has been a prolific, mid-season producer of dark red fruits weighing 450-905 g (1-2 lb) since it was introduced in Illinois in 1923. The fruits are resistant to disease and cracking and grow in large clusters.
The Abyssinian gooseberry is a small fruit with a delicate orange flavour, little flesh and a flavour similar to apricots. A promising hybrid of it and the ketembilla may eventually prove to be a viable crop in Florida.
From Canada, China, France, Hungary, Italy and Romania, this is a very pale, clear liquid honey with a delicate, scented flavour. It is one of the few honeys not to crystallise with age.
One variety of the many available acanthus plants has edible young shoots and leaves which may be eaten in salads. This has an Arabic origin and is not generally available in Europe.
A cocktail consisting of 45 ml (1½ fl oz) tequila, 45 ml (1½ fl oz) Jamaica rum, 90 ml (3 fl oz) pineapple juice, just under 30 ml (1 fl oz) grapefruit or lime juice, cubes of fresh pineapple (optional). Shake with ice cubes and serve on the rocks in a Collins glass, garnished with pineapple.
Accent is an early variety of potato which is slug-resistant. It is a good all-rounder with good keeping properties.
A heavy fruiting, late variety of determinate tomato. A deeply oblate, bright red fruit, which will stand for a long time before cracking.
