A variety of red eating apple raised in Australia by John Bullock at Dereel in Rokewood District in the 1870s. It usually fails to ripen in the UK. This late-season variety is harvested from late October and is at its best from January to March.

Corned beef. Cured, cooked, salted beef which is then pressed. It is called ‘corned’ because the Americans, to preserve the beef, covered it with "corns", large granules of salt. The name "bully beef" was popularised during World War One when tins of beef for army rations were labelled "bouillé" and the British soldiers struggled with the pronunciation.
