Salted sardines

A fish from the southern Mediterranean similar to a sardine and growing up to 30 cm in length.

African Anchovy. A fish of the sardine family found in southern Mediterranean waters.

A fish, possibly a shad, though it is descibed as very salty, which is a speciality of Upper Egypt.
