The San Marzano is an indeterminate variety of tomato producing elongated, flat sided, blunt ended fruit around 7.5 cm (3 inches) long. This is a plum tomato from the San Marzano production area on the flanks of Monte Vesuvio. It has meaty flesh with very little juice. Best used for purées and pastes. Resists cracking. Stores well.
