gyöza

[Mandarin_Pinyin]

Fried vegetable dumplings most commonly stuffed with minced (US: ground) pork though they may also be stuffed with minced prawns. A Chinese dish popular in Japan, gyoza is cooked in a variety of ways. Boiled gyoza (sui-gyoza) is very soft and can be eaten hot or cold. Deep fried gyoza (age-gyoza) can be finger food. Gyoza wrappers are slightly thicker than wonton wrappers and are round, while wonton wrappers a square. Wonton wrappers may be used and cut into circles to create the loose gathering of the wrapper, like an open basket.
