guanábana

/gwah-NAH-bah-nah/
[Spanish] plural guanábanas

The guanabana is a member of the custard apple family and has, like other members of the family, a pine-cone appearance, though this one has black spikes. The yellow pulp of the dark green fruit is eaten fresh, unripe and cooked, or made into various juice drinks or desserts. It is used in making an agua fresca.
